Start your journey from Moshi with a morning drive to the lush foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, arriving at the beautiful Marangu Village, a vibrant settlement of the Chagga people. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local guide and begin your walking tour through the village. The walk takes you along quiet rural paths, banana and coffee farms, and traditional Chagga homes built with stones and grass roofs, offering a close-up view of local life and culture.
A highlight of the walk is the Chagga Cultural Museum, where you’ll learn about traditional tools, household items, and the rich history of the Chagga tribe. From there, continue your walk through the forest trail leading to the stunning Kinukamori Waterfall—a sacred site surrounded by legend and natural beauty. You’ll enjoy the cool mist and peaceful sounds of the falls, a great spot for photos and a short rest.
The tour ends with a traditional Chagga lunch prepared by a local family, followed by a demonstration of the coffee-making process—from bean to cup. You’ll roast, grind, and enjoy fresh local coffee while engaging in warm conversations with your hosts. By late afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to Moshi with a deeper appreciation of Tanzania’s culture and the everyday lives at the base of Kilimanjaro.
